    The Room Ring is currently available in New York City and the surrounding metropolitan area. If you are moving somewhere else you would like to use The Room Ring, shoot us a note at customerservice@theroomring.com and let us know!

    -Is The Room Ring available on my desktop or laptop computer?

    Yes! Head over to www.theroomring.com.

    -Is The Room Ring available on my iPhone?

    Yes, The Room Ring's iOS app is available in the app store.

    About The Room Ring

    -What is The Room Ring?

    The Room Ring is a platform for people like you to find roommates or rooms to rent. You can post a room you have available for someone to rent, or you can search for available rooms both short and long term. We show you all the mutual friends you have with other users so you can get to know them better.

    -Why should I use The Room Ring?

    The Room Ring gives users a safe and secure platform to find roommates or rooms to live in. We give people a way to connect to potential roommates without fear of being scammed or misled. Never go back to craigslist again!

    -Is The Room Ring free to use?

    Yes! The Room Ring is 100% free to use from start to finish.

    -Where can I follow The Room Ring on social media?

    Listing A Room

    -Can I report a bug or error?

    Please and thank you! Send us a note at customerservice@theroomring.com and we will get back to you ASAP.

    -I have a room to rent, how do I list it?

    If you are a new user, simply Sign Up through Facebook and then select "List A Room" on the welcome page after completing your basic profile. Users who have already signed up with a different account type can either click on the left navigation panel on the website or the "Let's Get Started" tab of the iOS app and select "List A Room".

    -Can I list multiple rooms for rent?

    Currently we only allow one listing per user, but if you have multiple rooms in the same apartment to list, please mention so in the room description and list the rent for each room.

    -How do I edit my listing after I have created one?

    Website: Click on the "Edit Listing" button in the Left Navigation Panel under "List A Room".

    App: From the matches tab, click "Edit Listing" in the upper right hand corner.

    -I have rented my room, how do I delete my listing?

    Website: Navigate to the "Edit Listing" page clicking on the "Edit Listing" button in the Left Navigation Panel under "List A Room". You can delete or deactivate your listing at the bottom of the page.

    App: Navigate to the "Edit Listing" page by going to the matches tab, click "Edit Listing" in the upper right hand corner. You can delete or deactivate your listing at the bottom of the page.

    -What is the difference between Deleting and Deactivating my listing?

    Deleting your listing will permanently remove the listing from The Room Ring and your account and is unable to be reactivated. Deactivating your listing will prevent other users from seeing your listing but will allow it to be reactivated at a later time.

    -Does my listing ever expire?

    We will notify you when your listing's Date Available has passed by several weeks and ask you to update it. If the Date Available has passed by three weeks we will temporarily deactivate the listing until you reactivate it. We don't want to bombard you with messages if you and your roommate are already living happily together!

    -Do you allow brokers or landlords to post listings?

    The Room Ring is only intended for individuals who have rooms to rent or are looking for roommates. We do not permit brokers, landlords or management companies to list rooms.

    -How do I see potential roommates after I have posted a listing?

    Website: Click on the "Matches" button on the Left Navigation Panel under "List A Room". You can message roommates you think might be a good fit!

    App: Click on the Matches tab to view your roommate matches.

    -After I create my listing, do I reach out to potential roommates or wait for them to message me?

    Either way! We are sure you will have plenty of potential roommates reaching out to you but if you want to get the conversation started go to your match page and check out all of the great roommates on The Room Ring.

    -Can anybody else see my address?

    Nobody will ever see your address or email. We use an approximate location to display on the map so other users can get an idea of where you live, but we will never share your actual address.

    -I listed a room but I am not receiving many messages.

    Feel free to reach out to us at customerservice@theroomring.com and we can give you some help making sure your listing shows as well as possible. Also, don't hesitate to look at your matches and send a message to anyone who you think might be interested!


    Privacy & Security

    -Where can I view The Room Ring's Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions?

    -What does The Room Ring do with my Facebook information?

    We use your Facebook account to verify your identity and save you the hassle of uploading a picture of yourself. We will never ever post anything to Facebook on your behalf.

    -Can I sign up without Facebook?

    We require Facebook verification for the safety and security of our users as it helps us prevent spammers and fake accounts. Additionally, we use your Facebook account to show you mutual friends you share with potential roommates so you have an opportunity to get to know them better.

    -Can other users of The Room Ring see my Facebook account or any other personal information?

    Never! Users will never see your full Facebook name or your address, email or any other personal information. Users will only see information you provide in your profile or listing which you intend to share with others.

    -How can I notify The Room Ring about a potential spammer of fake account or other inappropriate behavior?

    We do our best to verify every user and listing but if someone leaks through, you have the option in every profile, listing, and conversation to Flag the user. Also, never hesitate to let us know at customerservice@theroomring.com

    -What happens when I flag a user's profile or listing?

    Our safety team is notified immediately and that account is put under review. We will remove the user if we don't think they are on The Room Ring for the right reasons.

    -What is the difference between flagging a user and flagging a listing?

    Ultimately, any user or listing that is flagged will have a full review by our team, but we want to make it quick and easy to flag suspicious activity no matter where you are on the app or website.

    -Can anybody else see my address?

    Nobody will ever see your address or email except for you. We use an approximate location to display on the map so other users can get an idea of where you live, but we will never share your actual address.

    -Who can see my messages?

    Only the participants of the conversation can see the message. We hope that you take advantage of having a secure messaging platform where you do not need to give away your phone number or email address.

    -How do I know the room listings are real?

    We verify every single listing when it is posted to make sure only legitimate rooms are on the website. We take authenticity very seriously. If you notice something that looks off, please let us know at customerservice@theroomring.com.

    -The lister of the room / apartment has asked me to pay upfront. What should I do?

    Please, always be safe! We urge all users looking for a room for rent to do proper research. Never transfer any money before you’ve seen the property or you’ve signed a legal contract. If you are still uncomfortable, we would be happy to hold the payment in escrow between you and your new roommate, just shoot us an email at escrow@theroomring.com.

    -If asked, should I send money through a wire transfer before signing my lease?

    We do not advise users to send any money via wire prior to meeting their new roommate and signing a legal agreement. If you are still unsure, we would be happy to hold the payment in escrow between you and your new roommate, just shoot us an email at escrow@theroomring.com.

    -Should I meet my potential roommate in person?

    Absolutely! When possible, you should always coordinate a meeting with your potential roommate to make sure you both feel comfortable with one another. If you can't meet them, we recommend scheduling some time to video chat or talk over the phone.

    -Should I give out personal contact information when messaging another user on The Room Ring?

    Until you have met the person and feel comfortable giving out your email address or phone number, we recommend you use The Room Ring's secure messaging platform. Never give out any personal financial information including your credit card, bank account, or social security information to another user. If something seems fishy, email us at customerservice@theroomring.com and we will have a look.


    Settings

    -How do I edit my settings?

    Website: Click the down arrow next to your name in the upper right hand corner of the page and select "Settings".

    App: Click on the "More" tab in the lower right hand corner and select "Settings".

    -I am looking for a room but do not want room listers to message me.

    On the Settings page you can choose who may and may not contact you.

    -How can I receive fewer emails or unsubscribe from all emails?

    While we do not recommend that you unsubscribe from all emails as we hope you would like to know when another user messages you, you can adjust your email preferences from the Settings page.


    My Account

    -How do I Sign Up?

    We're glad you found us! To sign up from the website simply click on any of the Sign Up or Log In buttons on the homepage. Even better, download our free iOS app from the App Store and get started finding a great roommate!

    -How do I delete my account?

    We will be sad to see you go but if you wish to delete your account you may do so from the Settings page. If you would simply prefer to stop receiving email notifications, you may do so on the Settings page as well.

    -How do I edit my profile?

    You can edit your profile my first navigating to it using either the dropdown beneath your name on the website or on the "More" page of the app. Once in your profile, please click the edit button or pencil icon to make changes to your profile.

    -How do I change from Find A Room to Find A Roommate or List A Room?

    From the website, simply click on the left navigation panel and change your account type. From the app, simply click on The Room Ring icon in the lower left corner of the screen.

    -Can I look for a room and list a room at the same time?

    Yes! You can do any and all of look for a room, look for a roommate or list a room at the same time. Simply pick one option when you sign up and then use the left navigation panel on the website or the first tab of the app to explore the other options as well.

    -I am not receiving emails from The Room Ring

    Unfortunately, sometimes our emails can end up in your spam or junk folder. If you don't find them there, please send us a note at customerservice@theroomring.com and we will have a look for you.

    -How do I change the email I use for The Room Ring?

    You can change your email address from within your profile, please see instruction above for how to edit your profile. (We never share your email with other users).

    -I found a roommate, what should I do now?

    First of all, shoot us a note so we can say congrats! We love to hear success stories. Second, check out some of our partner offers [link]. Third, if you have a listing, go into "Edit Listing" and deactivate it so roommates will stop contacting you. You will be able to reactivate in a nanosecond next time someone moves out.


    Users

    -How can I make sure that users are real?

    All users of The Room Ring are verified upon sign up.  The best way to know if the person is "real" is to message them! In the rare case you notice something that seems off, please Flag a user or notify The Room Ring.

    -How do I message potential roommates?

    Every user's profile or listing will have a message bubble icon where you can open a window to message that user. Make sure to turn your push notifications on so that you know when they message you back!

    -Another user has inappropriate content in his/her profile or is sending inappropriate messages. What should I do?

    Please Flag the user at the bottom of their profile and notify us at customerservice@theroomring.com and we will review their account immediately.

    -Can I save listings or roommates that I like?

    Yes! Just tap the heart icon on any roommate or room listing to add it to your favorites.

    -How do I see more information about another user?

    Click on any user from the match page to view that user's profile. If you want to know even more about them, send a message and introduce yourself!
