Open room in Williamsburg loft
Hi, I'm Maya. I work in product design, I'm in my mid-twenties, and I've lived in this two-bedroom loft for about two years. My roommate is moving to Los Angeles, so the second bedroom is opening up.
I'd rather find someone through The Room Ring than post on Craigslist and hope for the best. If we already know people in common, the first conversation is a lot less awkward.
The apartment
We're about two blocks from the Bedford L. Most nights I can get to Union Square in around fifteen minutes, and McCarren Park is close enough for a quick walk when I need to clear my head.
The open bedroom gets good light, fits a queen and a desk, and has a closet that actually works. The apartment has hardwood floors, a real kitchen with a dishwasher and gas stove, in-unit laundry, and a living room with space for a couch, a table, and a desk if you do not want to work from your bedroom.
The building allows dogs. I don't have one, and I'm allergic to cats, so this is not a fit if you're bringing a cat. Wifi has been solid for video calls and big file uploads.
How I live
I'm friendly, but I don't need a new best friend. I cook a few nights a week, have people over on weekends sometimes, and try to keep weeknights calm. If plans change, I just want a heads-up.
I'm hybrid at work, so I'm home some days and in the office others. I try to be quiet when someone's on a call, and I expect the same in return.
Who I'm hoping to find
Someone in their mid-twenties to early thirties with a full-time job, decent habits in the kitchen, and interest in a twelve-month lease. Non-smokers only. Occasional guests are fine. This is not a crash pad.
Money and timing
Rent for the room is $1,800 a month. Utilities are split evenly. Wifi is already set up. If you can show steady income, I don't think we'll need a guarantor.
I'm hoping for a move-in around September 1, but I can be flexible by a week or two if the fit is right. Message me on TRR first. If we have mutuals, mention them. I'd rather do a quick video call before anyone treks across the city for a tour.
